Pyramid Project: (Transition from Practice to Apprentice Scholar) Teaches you how to think, not what to think. The four corners of the pyramid represent Logic and Reasoning, Truth, Habits of a Scientist, and Newtonian Math (which is the math everyone usually learns to hate!) We are connecting math and science to the world around them and helping them to see the relevance so they have a reason to study it. Developing the habit to log one’s study is emphasized as they learn to emulate Nathaniel Bowditch and his amazing self-education depicted in Carry on, Mr. Bowditch. An alternative to the scientific method, called the Inteligro method, is also taught while they learn how great scientists of all times learned to wonder, see patterns, and ask the right question. Throughout the course there is a growth in the students’ ability to think logically and to measure things they encounter in the world against their core book (which may be scriptures or any other book that the student and his or her family uses as a foundation of truth.) They are taught many skills, such as how to find equations as they read the text! Many students find the scientific experiments so enjoyable that they thirst for more. This class is a prerequisite for Quest 1&2.

Shakespeare Conquest: (Practice Scholar) This class is offered to first and second year students. We will be introducing students to the interpretive keys to studying great thinkers and giving them opportunity to apply these interpretive keys. There will be an
incentive program that, if completed, will enable them to participate in a 2-day Shine Camp and a trip to the Shakespeare Festival. During the 2nd Semester students will learn the dramatic keys used for performing Shakespeare and will rehearse and perform a Shakespearean play. Both Semesters are required for first year students to be in the play. Parents must be willing to work with the director to provide a costume for their student. This class involves a large time commitment during the 6 weeks before the play when rehearsals are held. Parents will be asked to help with building sets, coordinating concessions, sewing costumes, transporting students, making arrangements for trips to the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City and Shine Camp, and other details that go into a production of this type. Prerequisite: Each student needs to have a parent signed up for a support role for the Spring 2020 Shakespeare production, prior to registration.
